────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
GAME BACKGROUND ░░▒▒▓▓██ March 20th, 2001 ██▓▓▒▒░░
Earth's resources are becoming scarce, due to the
increased depletion of the ozone layer and excessive toxic
concentration in Earth's water supply. Tension between
world nations is at an all-time high and squabbles between
countries over a few acres of land is becoming more and
more common.
░░▒▒▓▓██ June 23rd, 2002 ██▓▓▒▒░░
The Arab nations have formed an alliance (U.A.N. - United
Arab Nations). With their example, the rest of the world
follows suit. Four other unions are formed. The A.A.N.
(American Alliance of Nations), A.T.U. (Asian Treaty of
Unification), E.C.P. (European Consolidation Pack), and
the C.R.R. (Commonwealth of Russian Republics). These Five
new world powers soon become adversaries. Earth's resources
and food supplies have reached a critical low.

GAME BACKGROUND ░░▒▒▓▓██ February 11th, 2003 ██▓▓▒▒░░
The United States of America invents the fusion reactor.
With this new power source, all other fossil fuels become
obsolete. Countries that depended on the sales of oil, coal,
or petroleum for survival quickly become poor third-world
countries. Without the demand for fossil fuels, these
countries loose their paramount source of economic stability
and world prestige. The damage to their political influence
is irreparable. The once wealthy United Arab Nations become
virtually bankrupt overnight.
░░▒▒▓▓██ November 18th, 2004 ██▓▓▒▒░░
In a desperate attempt to reverse their plummeting economies,
the U.A.N. threatens full-scale nuclear deployment unless the
other countries of world provide them with financial aid.
When the aid does not come, the U.A.N. launches a massive
nuclear attack at the A.A.N. The American Alliance retaliates
with a major offensive of their own. Soon after, all the other
alliances of the world join in the war.

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
GAME BACKGROUND ░░▒▒▓▓██ July 27th, 2009 ██▓▓▒▒░░
After five years the war finally ceases. 60% of the world's
surface has been destroyed. The governmental bodies that
instigated the war are all but gone. In the aftermath of the
most devastating war in history, the populations of the world
suffer gravely from food shortages and unrelenting diseases.
The future of mankind remains in doubt.
░░▒▒▓▓██ December 17th, 2020 ██▓▓▒▒░░
The world has been under totalitarian rule, while the
countries of the earth slowly repair the damages caused by
the war. All war has been outlawed. A group of scientists
are commissioned to prepare a solution to the problem of
dealing with the disputes that arise between Alliances.
Their solution is an artificial environment to which
Alliances send their great machines to do battle in a way
to spare the crippled earth. The battles that the grid will
host will determine the future of mankind. The arena is
the Battle Grid. The winner will be the ruler of the earth.

ONLINE F/X Battle Grid is a 100% graphics based online interactive
game, in which you represent an alliance mech pilot
trained for battle on the Battle Grid using a huge war
machine called a 'Mech'. You pilot interactivetly with up
to 5 other players online for control of the 'Grid'. Battle
Grid's screens are painstakeingly hand drawn in HI-RES EGA/VGA.
The sounds include Multi-Track Midi Music, digitized sounds
and special effects. These effects include the FIRST ever
online interactive game to include selectable BACKGROUND
music via your mechs cockpit radio!

GAME STRUCTURE Game Day: A 24 hour period which advances at midnight.
Game Turn: A player can take a game turn after any other
player has taken his turn. This allows for many
turns in a game day.
Revenue: Credits are generated from captured land, based
on terrain value and are collected every game day.
Movement: A mech receives allotted movement points each game
turn. Movement points are expended based on
terrain type, and the mech type you are using.
Attacks: A mech receives allotted attack points each game
turn. Each attack costs an attack point.
Super-
structure: Created by a player to be an obstacle which mechs
cannot move through. It may take many hits to be
destroyed unless you hit a vital area which can
bring it crashing to the ground.
City : Cities are built by a player, and are unique to
each player. They can increase the amount of
revenue a sector may be worth, they can heal a
small amount of damage to your mech, and require
no movement points to move within. Also while a
mech is within the boundries of a city the city
offers the mech added defense protections.
By conquering your enemies cities you will be
able to capture a small bouty from the enemy
players collected credits.
Bunkers : Bunkers are much like Imobile mechs. There are
four distinct levels of Battle Bunkers each of
which do increasingly more damage than the other.
1=10pts 2=20pts 3=30pts 4=40pts.
They will allow only the builder of the Bunker
to cross within there area of affect without being
harmed. If an enemy mech walks within 1 sector
of the Battle Bunker the bunker will unleash a
deadly array of missiles doing upto it's
constructed maximum amount of damage. However,
it is not always possible for a Battle Bunker to
make a succesful hit.

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
GAME SYNOPSIS You and your opponents represent opposing Alliances fighting
for control of the earth in the Battle Grid. The battle will
be fought between huge machines called Mechs. You have been
specially trained as a mech pilot, responsible for purchasing
an effective mech, devastating mines, and terrifying weapons.
Every game has its own unique terrain map. The terrain
consists of rivers, lakes, grasslands, swamps, hills,
mountains, and more.
Initially, your mech is randomly placed on the terrain map.
The terrain is vast and its many variations can be used to
your advantage. Hide behind mountains, then maneuver around
rivers to capture your opponent's land. But stay alert and
keep a vigilant eye open for the enemy. He may be trying to
take your land out from under you. Or he may be lying in
wait; looking for an opportunity to launch a staggering array
of missiles and guns at you.

REVENUE Credits are generated from captured land, based on terrain
value and cities owned and are collected every game day.
Credits do not accumulate, you must log on everyday
to collect credits.
Revenue is increased by capturing terrain. Terrain is
captured by moving the mech onto a land section and hitting
<+> COMMAND (CONQUER LAND SECTION).
Revenue is also increased by constructing cities. Cities
are worth more on higher terrain valued sectors.
Revenue credits are determined by terrain type owned:

Mech movements can only be in the 4 cardinal directions

This allotted movement also is affected by a mechs positive

traversing certain terrain types than others. This is also

GAME TIPS/STRATEGIES * Your first concern will be to attain as much land
as possible and establishing a stronghold on the
map. Building cities and Bunkers to protect your
land.
* Generating revenue is a very important part of the
game. It is necessary for the purchase of additional
weapons, ammo, armor, stronger mechs in time of
need and increasing your statistics.
* Since rivers and lakes are impassable, attempt
to restrict access to or block others by building
superstructures in narrow areas created by water.
* Armor and weapons are fashioned to be mech specific,
therefore if you purchase another mech ... all the
weapons and armor of your previous mech will be
lost. However, mines and traps are not mech specific
so they remain.
